We can detect hidden mold inside walls, cabinets, HVAC systems, ceilings, sub floors, furniture, clothing, and much more.  Unlike conventional air or dust sampling tests, we can identify and mark the location of mold sources. Our inspection is fast, thorough and nondestructive. You will get instant results and the peace of mind in knowing if you have and if so how big it is.  With that knowledge you can move forward with removal without the extra cost, time, and stress of multiple rounds of testing and the worry of missing something.

Whether you own, rent, or work in a commercial space, we can ensure the environment is safe for your customers and employees.  Given the varied sizes and functions of commercial spaces, traditional mold testing methods may be impractical or cost prohibitive. Our speed, accuracy and unobtrusive nature make us ideal for work in public spaces. We are discreet and do not have any marked vehicles or uniforms that might cause concern for your clients, employees, or coworkers.

– Passenger Vehicles. The average American spends over 10 hours per week in a vehicle.  Do not overlook the potential of mold exposure your car presents.  Up to two class C motor vehicle inspections are included with residential or commercial service.                                                       – Recreational Vehicles. Due to the necessity of RVs and Motor Homes to be light, often their materials fail causing leaks.  Since these vehicles often have long unoccupied periods those leaks can lead to mold growths.  We can easily work in the confined space of an RV to detect the source of the mold.

About Us

We are Handler/K9 Team trained by world renowned Master Canine Trainer Bill Whitstine

K9 detection teams are only as good as their training. We made sure we chose the best.  Our trainer Bill Whitstine, is the creator of mold, bedbug, termite, and accelerant detection dogs.  He has over 30 years of experience as a trainer and handler and has been featured is several documentaries on Discovery and Animal Planet.

Churro is an energetic, mixed breed, two-year-old.  His high drive and love of sniffing everything make him ideal for this work.  This handsome boy has never met a person who isn’t his best friend.  When he isn’t training or inspecting, he has the run of 10 acres where he chases squirrels, digs holes, and lays in the sun.

Steve is a retired Helicopter Crewman and Rescue Swimmer with 24 years of active service in the U.S. Navy.  From his military service, he brought a focus on integrity, training, and results-based operations.  He believes there are no shortcuts in training and mission success is the ultimate test of abilities.  Skills must be consistently trained and evaluated under “harder than real” conditions to ensure successful results.  After retiring from the military, he combined his love of working with dogs and commitment to helping people into the canine mold detection field.

Why Choose Us

Certainty

Many people who have suffered from mold sensitivity have horror stories about the difficulty finding the source of their mold exposure, improper remediation, and the doubt if this was all in their head. Our inspection can give you the validation of knowing where the problem is and the peace of mind after remediation that your home is free of mold sources. We can eliminate restless nights caused by the thoughts of “what if we didn’t get it all?”.

Location

We can pinpoint the location of your mold source. It does not matter if it is under flooring, inside the walls, or in the ceiling. If mold grows, we will find it.

Cost Savings

This will save you time, money, and disruption when you work with a remediation company to remove the mold source. It will give you the highest probability of solving the problem the first time and reduce the risk of needing multiple rounds of testing and remediation.

Accuracy

No other inspection method comes close to our accuracy rate. We must maintain above a 90% accuracy rate to maintain our certification. Our daily standard is much higher than that.

Speed

Unlike air or dust sampling methods, our results are immediate. The dog’s nose is the most powerful scent detection technology available, and its onboard laboratory is a brain which 40% of the computing power is dedicated to the sense of smell.

Frequently asked questions

Mold dogs are scent detection dogs. The training is similar to bomb and drug detection dogs. Training is the foundation of our success. It is how we hone our craft and ensure high quality service. For this reason, we chose Bill Whitstine, a world-renowned Master Canine Trainer, and the creator of mold detection dogs, as our trainer. We are certified as a Handler/K9 Team with over 1,000 hours of initial training and train daily to ensure the highest level of accuracy possible. Quarterly we are tested by an independent third party and are required to recertify annually.

A phone consultation will give us a better understanding of the situation. During the call we will discuss:

 – The location type, size, age, history, condition, and areas of concern for your property

–  The goals you are trying to achieve with the help of this inspection

– Any special conditions or concerns for our entry

– Any pets or potential hazards to our canine

– Pricing and scheduling

During the inspection, the handler will enter your space first to do a safety check and identify hazards to our team.  We will discuss areas of concern you have and explain how the team will flow through the space and mark areas with mold sources. The canine will then be brought in and search the space.  If mold is detected the dog will alert the handler and indicate the location. We will mark any mold detected areas with non-marring painters tape.  We encourage you to observe the inspection process and to ask questions, but to not interact with the dog.  After the team is done inspecting there is plenty of time for pets and belly rubs!  The dog will then be put away and the handler will discuss the results and answer any questions.

Service fees are based on several factors to include:

– Type of structure

We are not a mold remdiation company, nor do we have financial ties to one.  We have no incentive to falsify test results. Unfortunately, the mold inspection/remediation community has a history inspectors making fraudulent claims of more mold in a structure than actually exists so they can charge more for remediation. Our independent service removes that risk. You can trust our results are accurate.

We are availible to travel nationally on a case by case basis.  We typically look to do multiple inspections in a region to cut down on the cost per inspection.  If you are interested in our services but are outside of our area, feel fee to contact us to discuss options.  Even if we are not available for your area we can help assist you in locating a canine team who might be.

The simple answer is YES!  Churro is not only our partner and most valuable business asset, but he is also a beloved companion.  We will not put him in a situation that is a risk to his health or safety.  We go to great lengths to ensure he is well protected and cared for.

Mold risk includes many factors like sensitivity, exposure level and duration. Dogs have several unique physiological adaptations that make them less sensitive.  The handler does a walk-through of the property prior to bringing in the dog.  During this portion of the inspection, if they feel the exposure level is too high, we will not bring him in.  The canine portion of the inspection is fast, minimizing exposure time. Additionally, he has regular veterinary examinations and blood work done.

For Churro, the work is a game of hide and seek that he gets a food reward for finding mold.  It combines his two favorite things; smelling new things and eating!
